ACS probationers gain valuable insight into power sector operations during NTPC Bongaigaon visit

BONGAIGAON, AUGUST 8, 2024 (TBB BUREAU):  NTPC Bongaigaon recently hosted a group of 80 Assam Civil Service (ACS) probationers for an in-depth learning and familiarization visit, organized in collaboration with the District Administration of Kokrajhar. This initiative aimed to provide the probationers with a comprehensive understanding of the power plant’s operations and its pivotal role in both the national economy and environmental sustainability.

The visit commenced with a welcoming address by Akhilesh Singh, Head of Project at NTPC Bongaigaon. Singh emphasized the broad responsibilities that ACS officers will undertake, noting that their roles extend beyond administrative duties to encompass community service and public welfare. He reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to environmental stewardship, highlighting its contribution to the country’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals through the production of clean energy.

Asutosh Biswas, General Manager (Operation) at NTPC Bongaigaon, underscored the importance of educational exchanges between the administrative sector and industry. His remarks were followed by Onkar Nath, Head of HR at NTPC Bongaigaon, who reiterated the company’s dedication to fostering future leaders through collaborations with public institutions.

The program included a detailed presentation by Paresh Mathur, AGM (Technical Services) at NTPC Bongaigaon. Mathur provided an in-depth overview of the plant’s operations, illustrating NTPC’s commitment to clean energy and its significant contributions to the economy and ESG standards.

During the visit, probationers toured the control room and Turbine Generator (TG) Hall, where they engaged with engineers and observed the plant’s operational processes, gaining practical insights into its impact on nation-building.

Kabita Deka, Additional District Commissioner of Kokrajhar, and Rima Trishna Haloi, Assistant Commissioner of Kokrajhar, expressed their appreciation to NTPC for facilitating the visit. The probationers lauded the experience, recognizing its value in enhancing their professional knowledge and preparing them for future roles in public service.
