LAPANGA, JUNE 5, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a remarkable show of environmental stewardship, Aditya Aluminium, a subsidiary of the Aditya Birla Group, commemorated World Environment Day in collaboration with the Rengali Forest Division and the Regional Pollution Control Board. The event, held at the local RR Colony in Pondolai, revolved around the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience.”
Key figures from the Forest Division, including Forest Officer Sujata Patel and Forest Protection Officer Sunita Guardia, alongside Satya Narayan Nand, Rakesh Kumar Panda, and Project Coordinator Sabita Patel, emphasized the critical role of extensive tree planting in protecting human society and wildlife while promoting sustainable livelihoods. They highlighted the importance of soil conservation and effective land management in fostering a healthy environment and lifestyle.
Sujata Patel, inspired by the profound impact of a single tree on countless lives, urged participants to actively engage in tree planting initiatives. She emphasized that every individual can contribute to a healthier planet through simple yet impactful actions.
The event featured engaging activities such as drawing and slogan competitions for students, with prizes awarded to the winners. Representatives from Aditya Aluminium, including Smelter Head Kamalakant Pandey, CPP Head Gulson Tiwari, HR Head Vinod Nanda Thakur, and Environmental Officer Lalit Charan, actively participated in the tree planting drive and engaged in discussions focused on environmental conservation.
Over 120 villagers and students enthusiastically participated in the program, which aimed to set the stage for extensive tree plantation during the upcoming Vana Mahotsav. The successful execution of the event, under the guidance of Shweta Upadhyay, Head of the CSR Department at Aditya Aluminium, and Deputy Manager Manoranjan Behera, received widespread appreciation from the local community.
