Paradip, November 29, 2024 (TBB Bureau): ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India), under its flagship CSR initiative “SAFAL” (Sustainable Agriculture and Farmers’ Livelihoods), has taken a significant step towards supporting the farming community in the Kujang Block of Jagatsinghpur district.
In a recent distribution drive, the company provided 124 manual spray pumps — each with a 16-litre capacity—to farmers across three panchayats in the region. The initiative aims to address key agricultural challenges, such as effective pesticide application and irrigation management, ensuring better crop health and increased productivity.
The distribution event saw active participation from local leadership, including Debendra Rout, Sarpanch of Nuagarh Panchayat, and Tapan Behera, Ward Member of Nuagarh, alongside members of the SAFAL project team. The presence of these dignitaries reinforced the community’s enthusiasm for sustainable farming solutions.
This intervention directly benefits 124 farmers, equipping them with the tools to streamline agricultural practices. By enhancing the efficiency of pesticide spraying and irrigation, the spray pumps are set to improve overall crop management, reduce manual effort, and boost yields.
AM/NS India’s commitment to the farming community extends beyond this initiative. Through the SAFAL program, the company continues to foster sustainable agricultural practices and uplift rural livelihoods across 12 villages in Jagatsinghpur district.
Speaking about the initiative, a spokesperson for AM/NS India highlighted the company’s dedication to holistic rural development: “Our focus is on empowering farmers with modern tools and techniques that contribute to their long-term economic well-being. The distribution of manual spray pumps aligns with our vision of promoting sustainable agriculture and enhancing livelihoods.”
