Arnab Maitra has taken over as the Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon, a 750 MW power station in Assam, marking a new era of leadership and operational excellence.
With over 30 years of industry experience, Maitra brings a wealth of expertise to the role, following a successful tenure as Head of Operations and Maintenance (O&M) at NTPC Korba in Chhattisgarh, one of NTPC’s largest plants with a generating capacity of 2600 MW.
Maitra succeeds Akhilesh Singh, who has been reassigned to NTPC CGM-OS (Director-Operations Secretariat).
A seasoned professional, Maitra began his career at NTPC in 1989 as an Executive Trainee after earning his Mechanical Engineering degree from REC, Durgapur. Over the years, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership across some of NTPC’s flagship power stations, including Farakka, Vindhyachal, Darlipali, and Korba.
Known for his hands-on approach and commitment to innovation, Maitra has played a critical role in optimizing operations and enhancing performance at each station he has served. His career has been bolstered by extensive training in key domains such as safety management, power plant efficiency, preventive vigilance, and leadership development, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the industry’s evolving demands.
As the new head of NTPC Bongaigaon, Maitra will oversee the plant’s three 250 MW units, focusing on sustaining high standards of safety, efficiency, and environmental stewardship. The station is a vital energy provider for the region, contributing significantly to Assam’s power grid and NTPC’s vision for sustainable and inclusive growth.
Maitra’s vast experience and proven track record make him the ideal choice to lead NTPC Bongaigaon into its next phase of development. His leadership will drive operational excellence and strengthen the plant’s impact on the community and the region.
