Arvind Kumar takes over as IndianOil Director (Refineries)

New Delhi, July 17, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant leadership transition, Arvind Kumar has taken charge as the Director (Refineries) at IndianOil, bringing with him a vast reservoir of experience and strategic insight from his previous role as the Managing Director of Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL), a key entity within the IndianOil group and a Government of India enterprise.

During his tenure at CPCL, Kumar demonstrated exemplary leadership, steering the company and the Manali refinery towards unprecedented success. Under his guidance, CPCL achieved its highest-ever throughput in the fiscal year 2023-24. His strategic vision was instrumental in enabling CPCL to produce critically important fuels such as ISROSENE and JP-7, which are essential for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).

Before his leadership role at CPCL, Kumar served as the Executive Director (Projects) at the Refineries Headquarters of IndianOil and as the Executive Director & Refinery Head at Mathura Refinery during 2020-21. His leadership acumen and project management skills have been consistently demonstrated throughout his career, establishing him as a visionary in refinery operations and project management.

In addition to his responsibilities at CPCL, Kumar served as the Chairman of Indian Additives Limited (IAL), a joint venture between Chevron Oronite Company and CPCL, which focuses on the manufacture and sale of lubricating oil additives. Under his stewardship, IAL recorded its highest profits in the fiscal year 2023-24. Furthermore, he served on the Board of Cauvery Basin Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (CBRPL), overseeing the development of a new refinery and petrochemicals complex in Nagapattinam.

Kumar is a distinguished professional, holding a Level A Certification in Project Management (Certified Project Director IPMA Level A) from the International Project Management Association (IPMA). He also possesses a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. With a career spanning 34 years in the oil and gas industry, Kumar embodies extensive experience and expertise in his field.
