Brijendra Pratap Singh has officially taken over as the Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Navratna CPSE National Aluminium Company Ltd. (NALCO) at the company’s Corporate Office in Bhubaneswar. His appointment marks a significant milestone for the state-owned enterprise as it embarks on new strategic initiatives.
Before his tenure at NALCO, Singh served as Director-In-Charge for Burnpur and Durgapur Steel Plant and was a member of the Board of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). With more than 35 years of extensive experience in the mining and steel industries, Singh has played a pivotal role in advancing SAIL’s modernization efforts, contributing to the growth and sustainability of India’s steel sector in line with the National Steel Policy.
An alumnus of IIT Dhanbad (formerly ISM Dhanbad), Singh holds a degree in Mining Machinery Engineering, along with an MBA in Marketing. He began his career in 1989 at the Iron Ore Mine of Bhilai Steel Plant, climbing the ranks to hold key positions at several of SAIL’s integrated steel plants, including Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP), Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL), Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP), and IISCO Steel Plant (ISP). His diverse expertise encompasses mining, blast furnace operations, sinter plant management, maintenance, and overall plant operations.
As the new CMD of NALCO, Singh’s leadership is expected to drive the company’s various expansion programs and spearhead new projects, aiming to enhance NALCO’s market presence and operational excellence.
