Reiterating Vedanta Aluminium’s commitment to road safety, Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sunil Gupta emphasized, “Building a culture of safety is our collective responsibility.” His statement came as the company successfully concluded a month-long road safety initiative across Jharsuguda in Odisha, positively impacting over 12,000 people.
Gupta highlighted the campaign’s objective, stating, “Through this initiative, we aimed to educate and empower our employees, business partners, and the community to adopt and advocate safer road practices. We are grateful for the support of the district administration in making this campaign impactful.”
Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, spearheaded a series of awareness programs in the month of January that underscored the importance of road safety, preventive measures, and collective responsibility in fostering a secure workplace and community.
In Jharsuguda, the initiative featured interactive training sessions, quiz competitions, and a compelling street play to reinforce road safety awareness. A special medical camp was also organized to provide health check-ups for drivers from the community and Vedanta’s business partners, ensuring their well-being for safer driving.
The campaign was supported by key district officials, including Jharsuguda Collector & District Magistrate Aboli Sunil Nirvane, Superintendent of Police P Parmar, Additional District Magistrate Kishore Chandra Swain, Road Transport Officer (RTO) Dinabandhu Sundhi, and Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) Loknath Meher, whose participation emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in road safety.
Commending Vedanta Aluminium’s initiative, RTO Dinabandhu Sundhi said, “Collaborative efforts like these are instrumental in creating safer road ecosystems. Vedanta Aluminium’s initiative is commendable, and we look forward to similar impactful campaigns in the future.”
MVI Loknath Meher added, “The awareness created through this campaign will have a lasting impact on road safety across the region. The emphasis on training, health check-ups, and engaging activities is a model for others to follow.”
In Lanjigarh, over 500 employees and business partners took part in a Safety March to spread road safety awareness. The event included an oath-taking ceremony reinforcing Vedanta’s safety-first culture, along with a powerful street play highlighting responsible road practices. The company also honoured drivers and traffic controllers at its operations for their commitment to traffic discipline. Besides, awareness sessions reached over 1,000 people from 10 villages, equipping the local community with essential road safety knowledge.
