Bhubaneswar, November 12, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a significant stride toward global education and skill enhancement, Centurion University of Odisha has entered into a transformative partnership with Zimbabwe’s Department of Public and National Skill Development (PaNSD). A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on November 11, 2024, with the primary goal of providing advanced, skill-based training to Zimbabwean students and professionals, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds. This landmark agreement will open doors for Zimbabwean youth to access Centurion University’s renowned technical education programs, paving the way for socio-economic progress.
The MoU was formally exchanged at Centurion University in the presence of key dignitaries, including Z. R. Churu, Deputy Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet of Zimbabwe; Dr. Ajay Nayak, Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Centurion University; Dr. Wadzanai Kachere; and Monalisha Ghosh, Director of International Relations and Government Partnerships at Centurion University.
In her welcome address, Ghosh underscored the significance of India’s deep-rooted ties with Africa, noting, “India and Africa share a rich history of collaboration and growth. This partnership embodies our commitment to creating educational and economic opportunities that will shape a brighter, more inclusive future.” Her words set a strong foundation for this collaborative endeavor, highlighting its role in strengthening connections between India and Zimbabwe.
The MoU outlines a strategic framework to deliver high-quality skill development programs for Zimbabwean students across diverse fields, including Engineering, Marine Science, Agriculture, Computing, Textile Technology, Management, Veterinary Sciences, Fisheries, and General Sciences. The partnership is designed to foster both theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise, encouraging students to bring innovative ideas and solutions to their communities. With a focus on promoting innovation and entrepreneurship, the agreement envisions transformative change through education.
Dr. Ajay Nayak, reflecting on the university’s vision for impactful partnerships, stated, “The skills training program is a critical step toward building a sustainable future for Zimbabwe by upskilling its talented youth. Through this collaboration, we can uplift communities by creating new opportunities and fostering long-term development.” He emphasized Centurion University’s dedication to meaningful engagement, noting, “Our commitment to partnerships extends beyond MoUs; it is about creating lasting impact with communities, universities, and organizations globally—from Africa and Australia to the UK and the USA.”
