RANCHI, APRIL 27, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): A delegation from the Central Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERC), led by Chairperson Jishnu Barua, embarked on a comprehensive visit to the Coal Mining Headquarters of NTPC Mining Limited (NML) in Ranchi on Thursday. Hosted by NTPC Director (Fuel) & NML Chairman Shivam Srivastava and accompanied by NTPC Director (Finance) Jaishankar Srinivasan, the CERC team delved into the intricacies of mining operations and the challenges faced in the sector.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in fruitful discussions with senior officials from NTPC’s Coal Mining Region, where they were provided with a detailed overview of NTPC’s operations and the complexities of coal mining. A brief presentation shed light on NTPC’s significant role in the sector and its commitment to operational excellence.
Continuing their exploration, the CERC delegation proceeded to NTPC’s flagship project, the Pakri Barwadih Mines in Hazaribag on Friday. Here, they witnessed firsthand the mining operations, including a visit to the Pakri Barwadih viewpoint for a panoramic view of the operations and the overburden (OB) area. The delegation interacted with women dump drivers, acknowledging their invaluable contributions and encouraging their continued participation in the sector.
Post-mine visit, the CERC team commended NTPC for its dedication to adopting best practices and achieving exceptional performance in recent times under the banner of NTPC Mining Limited (NML). The delegation, comprising members Arun Goyal (Member, Finance), Pravas Kumar Singh (Member, Law), Harpreet Singh Pruthi (Secretary), Rajeev Pushkarna (Chief, Finance Division), and Dr. SK Chatterjee (Chief, Regulatory Affairs), lauded NTPC’s commitment to excellence.
The visit was attended by Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) & NML CEO Animesh Jain, Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project Head Faiz Tayab, CGM (HR) Rajnish Rastogi, members from the Corporate Commercial team, and Heads of various Departments from Coal Mining HQ and Coal Mining projects.
The engagement between CERC and NTPC underscores the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in fostering growth and innovation within the energy sector.
