NEW DELHI, MAY 17, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), a prominent player in the Indian cement industry, has augmented its manufacturing prowess with the installation of a new cement mill at its existing facility in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu. This strategic move injects an additional 1 million tons (MnT) of cement capacity into the company’s operations, elevating its total installed capacity to 45.6 million tons, inclusive of its subsidiaries. The venture, backed by an investment of Rs. 204 crore, underscores DBL’s commitment to fortifying its market presence in the Southern region while catering to the escalating demand for cement.
This expansion aligns with the company’s long-term growth strategy aimed at increasing its total installed capacity to 110 -130 MT by the year 2031.
Commenting on the company’s expansion plans, Dalmia Bharat Limited Managing Director & CEO Puneet Dalmia said, “We continue to focus on strategic capital expenditure, maximizing on the region's growth prospects and further enhance our market position in the South. Driven by robust infrastructure development, housing and investments, we anticipate cement demand to rise. This increased capacity will facilitate the growing demand in the Southern region.”
Dalmia Bharat presently operates two integrated cement manufacturing plants in Tamil Nadu, located at Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur, alongside a grinding unit situated in Sattur. The company’s involvement in Bharatmala, a flagship infrastructure initiative in the Southern region, underscores its commitment to fostering vital transportation networks and bolstering regional progress.
Furthermore, DBL’s contribution to airport infrastructure projects in Calicut and Chennai through the supply of specialty cement highlights its versatile capabilities. With roots tracing back to the establishment of its inaugural cement plant in Dalmiapuram, Dalmia Bharat has forged enduring ties with the region, cementing its position as a stalwart in the industry.
