Dalmia Bharat Foundation, Karur Vysya Bank join hands to empower rural youth through skill development

New Delhi, May 01, 2024 (TBB Bureau):  In a significant move towards social empowerment, the Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd. (DBL), has teamed up with Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The primary objective of this collaboration is to empower rural youth through skill development initiatives.

The partnership aims to enhance employability skills and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for 400 rural youth across the Southern states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. Under the terms of the MoU, Karur Vysya Bank, as part of its CSR initiatives, will extend financial support for two financial years until FY25.

The collaboration will enable Dalmia Bharat Foundation to implement a comprehensive skill development program through its DIKSHa centers located in Belgaum, Kadapa, and Dalmiapuram. The program will offer short-term skill training courses in various sectors such as apparel manufacturing, construction, healthcare, IT-enabled services, beauty & wellness, among others.

DIKSHa, the flagship project of Dalmia Bharat Foundation, provides placement-linked, short-term skill training to youth and women, integrating them into the skilled workforce for enhanced income. With 19 centers spread across 10 states, DIKSHa has successfully trained 15,709 individuals to date, with over 11,435 individuals placed in gainful employment, earning monthly wages ranging from Rs 8,000 to Rs 20,000.

DBF has expanded its partnerships to include the State Skill Development Missions of Odisha and Karnataka, along with collaborations with organizations such as NABARD, NBCFDC, OSDA, BOSCH, Schneider Electric, among others.

This collaboration between Dalmia Bharat Foundation and Karur Vysya Bank underscores their shared commitment to youth empowerment and community development, fostering sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
