Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL), a pioneer in India’s cement industry, welcomed 40 students from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela for a comprehensive industry exposure visit at its cutting-edge integrated cement plant in Rajgangpur. The initiative, organized in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), aimed to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and practical industry application, offering students a firsthand look at the advanced processes behind cement manufacturing.

Led by Ashish Kumar Kanar, Scientist-D and Joint Director at BIS, the students explored the plant’s innovative manufacturing processes, sustainability practices, and rigorous adherence to quality standards. A key highlight of the visit was the recognition of the Rajgangpur plant’s exceptional performance, as it was awarded a remarkable zero-failure certification by BIS in December 2023. The plant has maintained an exemplary record with no complaints on product quality for over three years, underscoring Dalmia Cement’s commitment to excellence and innovation.

Chetan Shrivastav, Executive Director of DCBL and Unit Head of the Rajgangpur facility, emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering the next generation of professionals. “At Dalmia Bharat, we believe in meaningful collaborations that empower young minds with real-world exposure. This visit showcases our operational excellence and sustainability initiatives, reinforcing how innovation and responsibility can drive industry growth. We are proud to partner with BIS to inspire future leaders and contribute to shaping a greener, more sustainable world,” he said.

The Rajgangpur plant is renowned for its sustainable operations, featuring the world’s largest calciner, advanced dust suppression systems, and a significant solar power generation capacity. These efforts align with Dalmia Cement’s ambitious goal to become carbon negative by 2040. In addition to cutting-edge technology, the plant is deeply involved in regional community development, with initiatives aimed at skill development, sustainable livelihoods, and welfare programs.

With over 80 years of industry leadership, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Limited continues to be a trailblazer in sustainability and innovation. The company boasts one of the lowest carbon footprints in the global cement industry and is the first cement company to join RE100, EP100, and EV100, a testament to its commitment to clean energy and sustainable practices.

Currently, Dalmia Cement operates with a capacity of 46.6 million tons, making it the fourth-largest cement manufacturer in India. The company’s footprint spans ten states and fifteen manufacturing units, with a focus on producing super-specialist cement used in demanding applications such as oil wells, railway sleepers, and airstrips.
