“Discipline begins with oneself. If we do not take care of our health and surroundings, how can we aspire to be responsible citizens and contribute to the progress of our nation,” said Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) and Member of Parliament from Kurukshetra, as he addressed a gathering during the 76th Republic Day celebration held at Jindal Nagar, Angul on Sunday.
Jindal unfurled the National Flag at the newly built sports complex in the presence of JSP Angul Location Head and Executive Director (In-Charge)Pankaj Malhan, Executive Director (Projects) Damodar Mittal, senior officials, and members of the local community. The event commenced with the National Anthem, a ceremonial inspection of contingents, and an impressive march past.
In his address, Jindal congratulated the citizens on upholding the dignity of the Constitution for the past 75 years and emphasized the importance of individual responsibility for the nation’s progress. He also expressed gratitude to the nation’s teachers, armed forces, and security personnel for their tireless service.
Highlighting JSP’s commitment to sustainability, Jindal reiterated the company’s focus on green steel production and its ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2047. He also encouraged attendees to prioritize health and environmental care as critical aspects of responsible citizenship.
The event featured vibrant patriotic performances by students from O.P. Jindal School and DAV-Savitri Jindal School, drawing enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Pankaj Malhan expressed gratitude to Jindal for travelling from Kurukshetra to grace the occasion. “This is the first major event at JSP’s newly constructed stadium, which will soon host various sports events,” said Malhan. He reaffirmed JSP’s commitment to nation-building and its alignment with the year’s theme, Swarnim Bharat – Virasat aur Vikas (Golden India — Heritage and Development).
Republic Day festivities extended beyond the central event, with celebrations at other locations such as O.P. Jindal School, Utkal-C Mines, Shree Dham Power Plant, DAV-Savitri Jindal School, and O.P. Jindal Community College. Employees, students, and local villagers participated with patriotic fervor, making the day memorable across JSP’s establishments.
