Exemption of technical feasibility study for rooftop solar systems up to 10KW: OERC

Burla, July 12, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has issued an order on July 2, 2024, vide Ref No. OERC/Engg.-2/2006/701, waiving the requirement of a pre-installation technical feasibility study by discoms for rooftop solar systems up to 10KW.

This order streamlines the process for consumers applying for rooftop solar systems under various government programs.

Previously, discom technical officials were mandated to visit customers’ premises and submit a feasibility study report, causing delays in application processing.

With the elimination of the technical feasibility study requirement for systems up to 10KW, the application process will now proceed more efficiently. Consumers can install their rooftop solar equipment promptly and start benefiting from Net Metering without unnecessary delays.
