BHADRAK, JULY 30, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): In a landmark initiative, Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd. (FACOR), in partnership with the Odisha Forest Development Corporation (OFDC), orchestrated a monumental plantation drive at its Bhadrak plant, highlighting the company’s unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable development.
The event, which brought together over 200 employees, their families, and business partners, showcased a unified front in the quest for environmental preservation. Under the guidance of FACOR’s senior management, participants successfully planted 1,001 saplings, marking the beginning of a larger plan to plant an additional 2,500 saplings in collaboration with OFDC. This ambitious project will introduce more than 18 varieties of native fruit-bearing trees to the region.
To date, FACOR has planted an impressive 7,500 saplings and is on track to achieve its target of 25,000 saplings this monsoon season. These collective efforts underscore FACOR’s dedication to integrating environmental sustainability into its growth strategy while maintaining business excellence.
FACOR CEO Pankaj Sharma addressed the participants, emphasizing the profound impact of such initiatives on planetary conservation and sustainability. “Today’s plantation drive transcends mere tree planting; it represents an investment in a greener, healthier future. Krutisunder Mohapatra, Chief Health, Safety, and Environment Officer (CHSEO) of FACOR, elaborated on the ecological benefits anticipated from the initiative. “These saplings are expected to enhance the local ecosystem by improving air quality, boosting biodiversity, and creating sustainable habitats for wildlife. This initiative is a vital component of FACOR’s comprehensive environmental strategy, which prioritizes reducing carbon footprints, optimizing resource use, and promoting green practices throughout our operations,” he explained.
