In a solemn tribute to the valiant firefighters who lost their lives during the historic Bombay Dock Explosion of April 14, 1944, Ferro Alloys Corporation Ltd. (FACOR) observed National Fire Service Week with a wreath-laying ceremony at its plant premises on Monday. Inaugurated by senior management, the facility is aimed at cultivating a culture of safety consciousness and equipping individuals with practical knowledge on fire prevention and emergency response protocols. The initiative reflects FACOR’s integrated approach to industrial safety — combining infrastructure, training, and awareness.
Beyond the newly launched corner, FACOR has implemented several robust measures to strengthen its fire safety framework. The company operates a fully equipped fire tender for swift response, and has developed an in-house firefighting team trained in modern techniques. Regular fire drills and safety training programs are conducted for employees, their families, and associated stakeholders, ensuring a widespread understanding of risk management practices. All safety equipment is maintained under a rigorous inspection regime to ensure operational readiness at all times.
Speaking during the ceremony, Krutisunder Mohapatra, CHSE Officer, emphasized the importance of continuous fire safety education and shared accountability in fostering a secure work environment. Echoing this sentiment, senior executives Kamod Singh (COO), Ajith Kumar Parida (Director – O&M), and Gyanendra Nath (Director – Operations & Technical) reaffirmed FACOR’s steadfast dedication to safety and operational resilience.
Through these initiatives, FACOR not only commemorates the courage and sacrifice of past heroes but also exemplifies its ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property — setting a high benchmark for industrial safety practices in the region.
