Billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani’s younger son, Jeet Adani, tied the nuptial knot with Diva Shah in an intimate wedding ceremony on Friday, staying true to the family’s promise of a simple and traditional celebration. The event, held at Shantigram in Ahmedabad, was attended only by close family and friends, with no celebrities or high-profile guests present.
Amidst speculation of a grand, star-studded affair, Adani kept the wedding understated, in line with Jain traditions. In a move that underscores his commitment to philanthropy, the business tycoon announced a monumental Rs 10,000 crore donation toward healthcare, education, and skill development, further reinforcing his dedication to nation-building.
The nuptials followed traditional Jain and Gujarati customs, with rituals commencing around 2 PM. The absence of politicians, business magnates, film stars, and global celebrities stood in stark contrast to other high-profile weddings in India. Despite social media speculation about a lavish event, the Adani family honoured their commitment to keeping the occasion private.
Sharing the joyous occasion on social media, Gautam Adani expressed gratitude and sought blessings for the newlyweds. “With the blessings of Almighty God, Jeet and Diva tied the sacred knot of marriage today. It was a small and extremely private function, so we could not invite all the well-wishers even if we wanted to, for which I apologize,” he posted on X, along with pictures from the wedding.
While keeping the wedding low-key, Adani made a landmark contribution of Rs 10,000 crore towards building world-class hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools, and global skill academies. This initiative aims to provide affordable healthcare, quality education, and employment-driven skill training, making a significant impact on India’s social infrastructure.
Although the wedding itself was a private affair, Adani has planned a reception for employees on Saturday, reflecting his deep-rooted values of inclusivity and respect for his workforce.
Jeet Adani, 28, is a Director at Adani Airports and an engineering graduate from the University of Pennsylvania. He began his career in 2019 at the CFO’s office of the Adani Group, contributing to the conglomerate’s expansion. His bride, Diva Shah, is the daughter of diamond merchant Jaimin Shah, co-owner of C Dinesh and Co Pvt Ltd, a prominent player in the diamond industry with businesses in Mumbai and Surat. The couple got engaged in March 2023.
Gautam Adani, Asia’s second-richest man, reiterated his working-class upbringing and commitment to simplicity. Last month, during a visit to the Mahakumbh pilgrimage in Prayagraj, he had emphasized that the wedding would be “just like common people’s.”
At a time when billionaire weddings are making global headlines, Jeet Adani and Diva Shah’s nuptials serve as a reminder that tradition, humility, and philanthropy can take precedence over extravagance.
