Angul, December 7, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a remarkable move to foster local development, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation-Gramya Vikas Trust (GMDC-GVT), the corporate social responsibility arm of GMDC, on Saturday inaugurated nine vital infrastructure projects in Angul district. These projects, undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 50 lakh, have been warmly welcomed by local communities, marking a significant milestone in the region’s progress.
The inauguration ceremony, held across the Chhendipada and Machhakuta Panchayats, witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community and key dignitaries. The event was graced by Chhendipada Block Chairperson Sumitra Sahu and Brigadier Manu Mehrotra, GMDC Project Head of Baitarani West Coal Mine, Angul. Other prominent attendees included Manoj Kumar Sethi, Sarpanch of Machhakuta; Sumant Behera, Chhendipada Panchayat Samiti Member; Romachal Khamari, BNB Project Manager; and numerous local villagers who expressed their gratitude for the impactful initiatives.
In Chhendipada Panchayat, key projects included the construction of Mahamayee Mandap, a new community space for cultural and social gatherings; a boundary wall for the revered Chhendipada Shiva Temple; and the renovation of community halls in Patharmunda, Kumbhar Sahi, and Tailik Samaj Gruha, aimed at providing better facilities for local events.
Meanwhile, in Machhakuta Panchayat, the boundary walls for Machhakuta UP School and Podapada Kali Temple were completed to enhance the safety and preservation of these institutions.
Besides, two more projects — the renovation of Podapada Sahi Community Hall in Machhakuta Panchayat and Sapoi Sahi Community Hall in Chhendipada Panchayat – were inaugurated on Friday.
These initiatives underline GMDC-GVT’s unwavering commitment to corporate social responsibility and sustainable development. The collaborative efforts of local panchayats and GMDC-GVT have brought about a transformative change, fostering a sense of pride and joy among the villagers.
