When we talk about emission or pollution, it is usually what goes on outside of buildings and dwellings. However, over the years the indoor air pollution has turned just as lethal as the outdoor air.
According to the Environment Protection Act, 1986, levels of indoor air pollutants are 2-5 times higher than outdoor levels. In some cases, these levels can exceed the outdoor levels of the same pollutants 100 times. One of the primary contributing factors of emission is formaldehyde which is emitted from the resin used in building and furnishing materials like paints, furniture, plywood etc. The emissions have short term to long term effects ranging from nausea, coughing, fatigue, headache to COPD or lung cancer in rare cases.
Greenply Industries have always been in forefront driving product innovations, ensuring a steady supply of health safe products to its discerning consumers. The company is the first one in the wood & panel industry to introduce a range of Zero Emission (E-0) plywoods to safeguard the indoor air quality by reducing formaldehyde emission to negligible or equal to zero. The company not only intend to offer products that stand the test of strength and durability but meet the global standards when it comes to health safety. To this effect, Greenply have also acquired international accreditation from California Air Resource Board (CARB) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Greenply has taken upon the responsibility to address the problem of indoor air pollution by extending the E-0 innovation from the premium portfolio to the mid-range portfolio as health safety should be a priority for all and Greenply aims to create healthy homes
Remarking on the initiative, Manoj Tulsian, Joint Managing Director & CEO, Greenply Industries Limited said, “The company has made considerable investments on implementing the E-0 innovation across its manufacturing units towards R&D, testing mechanism, resin formulation and implementation. The company is currently investing in further research through various toxicology studies and health experts. The Company is further in the process of developing the AskGreenply platform to share information and create awareness on the need to keep the indoor air quality (IAQ) under check.”
