Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), a leading manufacturer of premium cars in India, has achieved a significant milestone with 50,000 ADAS-enabled Honda vehicles now plying on Indian roads. This achievement reflects HCIL’s commitment to Honda’s global vision of “Safety for Everyone” and its ambitious goal of achieving zero traffic collision fatalities involving Honda motorcycles and automobiles by 2050.

Honda has been at the forefront of advancing vehicle safety, incorporating cutting-edge innovations in crashworthiness, collision compatibility, and pedestrian safety. The company introduced its intelligent Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Honda SENSING, in India with the launch of the Honda City e:HEV in May 2022—the country’s first mainstream strong hybrid electric vehicle. Recognizing the growing demand for safety features, HCIL has since expanded ADAS availability across its lineup, integrating Honda SENSING into the Honda City (March 2023), Honda Elevate (September 2023), and most recently, the Honda Amaze (December 2024). The all-new 3rd Generation Honda Amaze is now India’s most affordable ADAS-equipped car, making advanced safety technology more accessible to a wider range of customers.

The response from Indian consumers to ADAS technology has been overwhelmingly positive. Sales trends indicate that ADAS-equipped variants account for over 60% of Honda Elevate sales, 95% of Honda City sales, and 30% of Honda Amaze sales. Furthermore, among customers who chose ADAS-equipped models, one in every two cited advanced safety technology as the primary reason for their purchase, highlighting the growing importance of safety in consumer decision-making.

Commenting on this achievement, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing and Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., stated, “At Honda Cars India, safety is at the core of everything we do. Achieving the milestone of 50,000 ADAS-enabled vehicles on Indian roads reflects our unwavering commitment to enhancing safety for all. This achievement not only aligns with our global safety vision but also demonstrates the growing preference and acceptance of Indian consumers for advanced driver assistance technologies. Every day, we are working to make our vehicles safer by continuously improving both active and passive safety features, ensuring a secure driving experience for everyone.”

A pioneer in safety innovation, HCIL became the first automaker in India to introduce ADAS in manual transmission (MT) variants with the Honda City in 2023. Currently, Honda SENSING is available in the V, VX, and ZX grades of the Honda City, the ZX grade of the Honda Elevate, and the ZX grade of the Honda Amaze in both MT and CVT versions. Additionally, Honda City e:HEV comes with Honda SENSING as a standard offering.
