IMFA triumphs at EEPC India Awards for export excellence

Bhubaneswar, August 20, 2024 (TBB Bureau):  Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA) has achieved a significant milestone by winning the esteemed EEPC India Eastern Region Award for Export Excellence in the large enterprise category. This recognition, celebrating the company’s performance for the fiscal years 2019-20 and 2020-21, was awarded during the recent 38th and 39th editions of the award ceremony held in Kolkata.

Organized by the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) of India, these awards honour organizations that have made exceptional contributions to India’s engineering export sector. The awards reflect a company’s dedication to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction, and IMFA’s victory underscores its outstanding performance in a challenging period marked by the global pandemic.

The award ceremony saw the Chief Guest, Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister, Department of Industry, Commerce and Enterprises, Government of West Bengal, presenting the accolade to IMFA. The company’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given the complexities and obstacles presented by the pandemic years. With over 90 per cent of its production destined for export, IMFA has sustained a robust export focus, serving long-term customers in Southeast Asian markets including Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.

IMFA’s accomplishment came in a competitive field, as the awards were distributed across five categories: large, medium, small, micro, and merchant enterprises. The company’s consistent export excellence and substantial contribution to India’s engineering export industry set it apart from its peers.

EEPC India, which sponsors these awards, is a pivotal body in promoting trade and investment within the engineering sector. Founded in 1955, it currently boasts over 12,000 members, with a significant portion comprising small and medium-sized enterprises. EEPC India plays a crucial role as an advisory body, liaising between the Indian government and the engineering sector, and contributes actively to policy development.

Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) stands as a leader in India’s ferro chrome industry. Established in 1961 and headquartered in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, IMFA operates with a fully integrated model that includes a 190 MVA installed furnace capacity, captive chromite mines, and power generation capabilities. Its manufacturing complexes in Therubali and Choudwar adhere to international standards, with ISO 9001 certification for quality management, reflecting its commitment to excellence.

The recognition by EEPC India not only highlights IMFA’s strong export performance but also reinforces its position as a key player in the global engineering and manufacturing sectors.
