BHUBANESWAR, JANUARY 31, 2025
IndiGo, India’s leading airline, has significantly increased its flight and seat capacity to and from Prayagraj Airport in response to the soaring demand during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, 2025. Initially, the airline had planned a major capacity boost, but in light of the unprecedented demand, IndiGo has added even more flights in recent days.
For this special period, the airline will offer more than 165,000 seats to and from Prayagraj — more than double its normal capacity for the airport. IndiGo will now connect Prayagraj to 10 cities across India, adding new services from Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Jaipur, in addition to its existing routes from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Raipur, and Bhubaneswar.
In addition to these new connections, the airline has increased capacity on existing routes by adding more frequencies and deploying larger A321 aircraft. Overall, IndiGo will operate approximately 900 flights to and from Prayagraj during this period, up from the usual 490 services.
IndiGo remains committed to supporting the government’s efforts by ensuring smooth travel for pilgrims. The airline is also reallocating resources from other parts of its network to accommodate the influx of passengers. It has made efforts to stabilize airfares and ensure a positive travel experience for all its customers.
Through this capacity increase, IndiGo reaffirms its dedication to providing safe, reliable, and affordable air travel, underscoring its commitment to connecting people and places, particularly during significant cultural and religious events.
