Paradip, June 21, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Despite overnight monsoon rains, the Paradip Port Authority (PPA) embraced the spirit of wellness and unity on the shores of Chilika Lake to mark the 10th International Day of Yoga. Led by PPA Chairman PL Haranadh, the event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the enlightenment that yoga brings to practitioners.
Haranadh was joined by officials including PPA Deputy Chairman Nilabhra Dasgupta, Secretary UR Mohan Raju, Deputy Conservator Capt. AC Sahu, Chief Engineer HS Rout, and CMO Dr. BB Dash, all of whom added their presence and encouragement to the occasion.
The yoga session was expertly guided by Tapas Ranjan Pati, a seasoned instructor from the Art of Living Foundation. Participants, including PPA officials, students, and local women, actively engaged in various yoga postures and breathing exercises, underscoring the holistic benefits of this ancient practice.
While immersed in their yoga practice, attendees also connected virtually to witness Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s live celebrations from Srinagar, where he highlighted yoga’s profound impact on global health and societal harmony.
Beyond Chilika, the celebrations extended to Paradip Beach where the CISF Unit of PPA demonstrated yoga techniques, promoting physical and mental well-being among port personnel. The Paradip Saksharata Samiti, PPA’s social arm, organized yoga sessions with students from local schools including Port Trust High School, DAV Public School, Paradip, Saraswati Sishu Vidya Mandir, and Twinkle Twinkle School.
The event was further amplified through banners, hoardings, electronic display boards, and selfie points strategically placed to raise awareness about the International Day of Yoga and its benefits among the local community.
The observance of the International Day of Yoga at Chilika by the Paradip Port Authority not only reinforced the importance of health and well-being but also fostered a sense of unity and collective mindfulness among participants, reflecting the true essence of yoga in modern times.
