Bhubaneswar, December 7, 2024 (TBB Bureau): A wave of inspiration swept through Centurion University’s Bhubaneswar campus on Saturday as ISRO Chairman Dr. Sreedhar Panicker Somanath addressed the 12th Convocation Ceremony. In a rousing speech, Dr. Somanath called upon graduates to harness innovation and technology as powerful tools for driving India’s inclusive growth.
“Today’s students are the architects of tomorrow’s India,” he said, urging the Class of 2024 to stay committed to lifelong learning and use their knowledge to uplift society. “Education is the cornerstone of transformation, and through it, you have the ability to shape a more equitable and prosperous future.”
The event celebrated the academic achievements of 2,738 graduates from the Class of 2024, along with 138 students from earlier batches. Degrees and medals were conferred amidst an atmosphere of pride and excitement.
Odisha Governor and University Visitor Raghubar Das presided over the ceremony, while Justice Sandeep Mehta, Judge of the Supreme Court of India, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In her speech, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Supriya Pattanayak lauded the graduates for their resilience and commitment. “Centurion University stands committed to creating a just and inclusive society, and you, our graduates, are integral to this vision,” she said.
The ceremony celebrated remarkable academic achievements with several prestigious awards presented to outstanding graduates. Arpita Priyadarshini Panda was honored with the Visitor’s Gold Medal for her exceptional performance in the Bachelor of Pharmacy program. Subarna Pramanick received the Dhiren Patnaik Gold Medal as the Best Female Graduate in the Master of Science (Cyber Security & Digital Forensics) program. Amisha Kar was awarded the Peter Renwick Memorial Gold Medal for her all-round excellence in the School of Management. In addition to these top accolades, 19 University Gold Medals and 49 merit awards were conferred upon students who demonstrated exemplary academic achievements.
The convocation reinforced Centurion University’s role as a pioneer in fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and academic rigor. Underlining this legacy, the university leaders — including President Professor Mukti Kanta Mishra, Vice President Professor D.N.
