Joda/Barbil, August 16, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Jindal Steel & Power (JSP) commemorated India’s 78th Independence Day on Thursday with grand celebrations at its Barbil Pellet Plant, as well as its iron ore mines in Tensa and Kasia, reflecting a deep sense of patriotism and unity.
The day began with the ceremonious hoisting of the National Flag at each unit. Purushotham M D, Unit Head of the Barbil Pellet Plant, led the proceedings in Barbil, while Kamalakanta Nanda, Unit Head of Tensa Iron Mines, took charge of the festivities in Tensa. At Kasia Iron Mines, Pramod Patra, Unit Head, presided over the flag-hoisting ceremony, setting a tone of reverence and pride.
JSP Chairman, Naveen Jindal, expressed his heartfelt sentiments on the social media platform X, paying homage to the nation’s freedom fighters. He wrote, “As we mark 77 years of independence, we celebrate India’s journey of courage, resilience, and vision. Today, we look forward to a future where progress is for all, innovation knows no bounds, and the dreams of billions are realized. Here’s to a truly Vikshit Bharat. Happy Independence Day.
The JSP Foundation, the company’s social responsibility arm, also played a significant role in the celebrations. Special programs were organized in nearby schools and communities, where sweets were distributed, and students engaged in essay, debate, and drawing competitions centered on nationalistic themes. These initiatives, led by CSR Head Vargil Lakra and his dedicated team, saw overwhelming participation from the local community.
The Independence Day celebrations witnessed enthusiastic involvement from senior management, employees, business associates, and their families across all three units. Beyond the flag-hoisting ceremonies, the townships of Barbil, Tensa, and Kasia came alive with vibrant cultural programs.
