Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), in collaboration with AMD, Cisco, and Nokia, has announced the launch of an Open Telecom AI Platform at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025. Designed to integrate AI-driven solutions into telecom networks, this platform aims to enhance efficiency, security, and revenue opportunities for service providers.
The Telecom AI Platform will introduce a central intelligence layer for telecom networks by leveraging expertise across domains such as RAN, Routing, AI Data Centers, Security, and Telecom. By embedding AI and automation into every layer of network operations, the platform will enable service providers to optimize performance and unlock new capabilities. The AI framework will be LLM-agnostic, incorporating both Large Language Models (LLMs) and domain-specific Small Language Models (SLMs), alongside non-GenAI machine learning techniques. It will utilize open APIs and agentic AI to drive real-time network optimization and proactive management.
Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio, emphasized the platform’s transformative potential, stating that by harnessing agentic AI across all telco layers, JPL is building a multimodal, multidomain orchestrated workflow platform that redefines efficiency, intelligence, and security for the telecom industry. He highlighted that this initiative goes beyond automation by enabling AI-driven, autonomous networks that adapt in real time, enhance user experiences, and create new service and revenue opportunities across the digital ecosystem.
The collaboration brings together global technology leaders to drive AI-powered telecom infrastructure.
Lisa Su, Chair and CEO of AMD, expressed pride in partnering with JPL, Cisco, and Nokia, stating that AMD’s high-performance CPUs, GPUs, and adaptive computing solutions will help create more secure, efficient, and scalable networks.
Chuck Robbins, Chair and CEO of Cisco, highlighted that Cisco’s integrated solutions, including Agile Services Networking, AI Defense, and Splunk Analytics, will contribute to revolutionizing telecom networks with AI-driven efficiency, security, and revenue optimization.
Pekka Lundmark, President and CEO of Nokia, emphasized Nokia’s leadership across RAN, Core, and network transport, stating that the company is committed to optimizing and monetizing network investments through AI-powered enhancements in performance, security, and customer experience.
Jio will serve as the first customer for the Open Telecom AI Platform, establishing a replicable reference architecture for global telecom operators. The initiative aims to drive joint AI solution development, enhance network efficiency, and accelerate AI-driven applications that transform enterprise and consumer experiences. By integrating AI-driven automation, the platform is set to revolutionize the telecom industry and position JPL, AMD, Cisco, and Nokia at the forefront of next-generation connectivity.
