Jio on Friday unveiled a game-changing feature for its JioBharat device, introducing JioSoundPay, a free lifetime service aimed at transforming the lives of over 5 crore small-scale merchants across India. This industry-first initiative underscores Jio’s commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and driving the nation towards a truly Digital India.
JioSoundPay provides instant, multilingual audio confirmations for UPI payments, making it a seamless tool for kirana stores, vegetable vendors, and roadside eateries. By eliminating the need for costly sound boxes — typically priced at ₹125 per month — merchants using JioBharat phones can save up to ₹1,500 annually.
Launched over a year ago, the JioBharat phone is the world’s most affordable 4G device, priced at just ₹699. With the free JioSoundPay feature, merchants can effectively recover the cost of the phone in just six months, making it a must-have tool for small businesses.
This initiative also coincides with India’s 75th Republic Day celebrations, featuring modern renditions of Vande Mataram available on JioSoundPay. These contemporary tributes, blending timeless melodies with modern rhythms, can be set as JioTunes via the MyJio app or JioSaavn.
