Reliance Jio has reinforced its position as the leading digital service provider in Odisha, with a remarkable addition of over 1.5 lakh new mobile and wireline subscribers in December 2024. According to the latest telecom subscription data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), Jio gained more than 1.34 lakh mobile subscribers and over 16,600 JioFiber and Jio AirFiber subscribers in the state during December. With this growth, Jio’s total mobile subscriber base in Odisha has surpassed 1.56 crore.
In comparison, Airtel added around 18,000 mobile subscribers, while BSNL saw an increase of just over 9,000 mobile subscribers in the same month. VI, however, continued to experience a decline in its subscriber base. Overall, the total mobile subscriber count in Odisha grew by over 1.58 lakh in December, as reported by TRAI.
Nationally, Jio led the market by adding the highest number of mobile subscribers in December, with over 39 lakh new users joining its network.
In addition to its mobile success, Reliance Jio has reached a significant milestone in the wireline segment, surpassing 4 lakh wireline subscribers in Odisha — three times more than its nearest competitor. This achievement grants Jio an impressive 65 per cent market share in the state’s wireline sector, which includes JioFiber and Jio AirFiber customers benefiting from world-class home entertainment, unlimited WiFi, and high-speed broadband services.
With a 45 per cent market share in mobile subscribers and a dominant 52 per cent revenue market share in Odisha, Jio has firmly established itself as the state’s most preferred digital service provider, thanks to its extensive 4G and 5G network coverage.
Notably, Jio has been recognized as India’s fastest 5G provider, recording a median 5G download speed of 258.54 Mbps during the period from July to December 2024, according to Ookla’s latest report. Additionally, Jio leads the nation in 5G Availability, with 73.7 per cent of its users consistently accessing the 5G network.
