Reliance Jio emerged as the fastest mobile provider in India during the second half of 2024 (July–December), outperforming competitors in both speed and coverage, according to the latest Ookla report.
Jio recorded a median 5G download speed of 258.54 Mbps and an upload speed of 14.54 Mbps, securing the top position among 5G providers with a Speed Score of 213.27. Airtel followed with a median 5G download speed of 205.1 Mbps. Jio’s 5G network also maintained a latency of 55 ms.
In terms of 5G availability, Jio led with 73.7% of its users accessing its 5G network the majority of the time. It also achieved the highest coverage score at 65.66, ahead of Airtel’s 58.17.
Jio was recognized as India’s best mobile network in the second half of 2024, ranking first in overall speed and coverage across all technologies. It achieved a Speed Score of 174.89, with a median download speed of 158.63 Mbps, ahead of Airtel (100.67 Mbps) and Vi India (21.60 Mbps). The network recorded an upload speed of 8.93 Mbps and a latency of 62 ms.
Jio was also the fastest provider across nine major Indian cities. Jaipur led with the highest median mobile download speed of 181.68 Mbps, followed by Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Mumbai recorded the slowest median speed at 75.75 Mbps, trailed by Pune and Chennai.
