MSME and StartUp Trade Fair 2024 commences at KIIT campus with national participation

Bhubaneswar, November 13, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The three-day MSME and StartUp Trade Fair 2024 launched today at KIIT-DU, Bhubaneswar, featuring participation from over 65 StartUps across India.

The event was inaugurated by Gokulananda Mallik, Minister of State for Fisheries and Animal Resources Development (F&ARD) and MSME, Government of Odisha. He highlighted the critical role of the MSME sector in achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India (Vikshit Rashtra), stating, “We are committed to supporting MSMEs in every way possible to help Odisha and India progress toward prosperity.” Mallik emphasized the importance of support from large industries for MSMEs, mentioning initiatives like creating a land bank and promoting the “one district, one product” strategy to boost regional industries across Odisha.

Dr. Achyuta Samanta, Founder of KIIT and KISS, expressed pride in hosting a platform that allows StartUps to showcase their ventures, connect with potential investors, and build strategic networks. “With over 25 technocrats from technology-enabled centers here, we’re encouraging young entrepreneurs to remain patient and persistent in their journeys,” he said.

Representing the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Dr. Krishna Kanth Pulichera emphasized nurturing local talent, adding, “Our focus extends beyond product promotion; we aim to build a supportive ecosystem in Odisha through KIIT TBI.” He highlighted the region’s capacity for innovation and growth.

Nalinaksh S. Vyas, Emeritus Fellow at IIT Kanpur, lauded KIIT University for its unique contributions to academia and entrepreneurship, stating, “KIIT stands as a remarkable institution, distinct from any other in the country.”

P.K. Gupta, Joint Director and HOO of the MSME Development Institute in Cuttack, discussed the significant benefits this fair offers to startups, providing essential avenues for growth and exposure.

Organized with the support of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India, along with backing from the Office of the Principal Scientific Advisor to the Government of India, Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster Foundation, KIIT Technology Business Incubator, and KIIT, the trade fair is dedicated to advancing MSME growth and StartUp development in India, informed Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, DG R&D and Innovation, KIIT and CEO, KIITTBI.

Held under the Procurement and Marketing Support Scheme of the MSME Ministry, this event serves as a vital platform for StartUps to showcase their innovations, build networks, and explore growth opportunities.
