Reinforcing its commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development, Navratna CPSE National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) has contributed ₹10.10 crore to Saheed Laxman Nayak (SLN) Medical College & Hospital, Koraput. This significant financial assistance is aimed at enhancing healthcare services in the region, particularly benefiting marginalized tribal communities.

On behalf of NALCO, Niranjan Samal, Executive Director (M&R), presented the cheque to V. Keerthi Vasan, Collector & District Magistrate, Koraput. The event, held at the Koraput Collectorate, was graced by the presence of Asutosh Rath, Executive Director (H&A), NALCO, and Prof. (Dr.) Susanta Kumar Sahu, Superintendent-cum-Dean & Principal of SLN Medical College & Hospital.

The contribution, extended through NALCO’s CSR arm – Nalco Foundation, will be utilized to procure advanced medical instruments, equipment, and other essential resources, thereby enhancing patient care across multiple hospital departments. Given the crucial role of SLN Medical College & Hospital in delivering healthcare services to the people of Koraput district, this support is expected to significantly strengthen the hospital’s capacity. The improved medical infrastructure will help overcome geographical and resource-based barriers, making quality healthcare more accessible to the vulnerable population.

Beyond this initiative, NALCO has been actively prioritizing healthcare development in the region through various ongoing CSR programs. In the Damanjodi sector, where NALCO’s Mining and Refinery complex is situated, the company operates mobile healthcare units that cater to 163 remote peripheral villages and nearby hamlets. Similarly, in the Pottangi sector, NALCO’s mobile healthcare units serve residents of 48 peripheral villages, ensuring essential medical services reach underserved communities.

NALCO’s sustained efforts in the healthcare sector reflect its broader vision of fostering holistic community development, aligning with its mission to contribute to the well-being of society while driving industrial growth. With this latest contribution, the company reiterates its dedication to strengthening healthcare accessibility and infrastructure in Odisha’s tribal heartland.
