NTPC Bongaigaon celebrates 20 years of excellence with renewed commitment to growth and sustainability

NTPC Bongaigaon marked its 20th Raising Day with a grand celebration at its plant premises, reflecting on two decades of remarkable achievements and a future filled with promise. The event commenced with Chief General Manager Arnab Maitra hoisting the NTPC flag at the administrative building, followed by the NTPC Geet, a ceremonial cake-cutting, and the release of colorful balloons symbolizing the company’s vibrant spirit.

Maitra, accompanied by key figures such as Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation), and Kasturi Maitra, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, addressed the gathered employees, emphasizing NTPC Bongaigaon’s pivotal role since its foundation stone was laid on January 16, 2006. He highlighted the plant’s contribution to regional and national development, showcasing impressive operational milestones including the generation of 3848.64 million units (MU) of energy, a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 73.98%, and a Declared Capacity (DC) of 93.34% as of January 14, 2025.

Maitra underscored the plant’s commitment to sustainability, with metrics such as Auxiliary Power Consumption (APC), specific oil consumption, and water consumption maintained within optimal limits. He proudly noted NTPC Bongaigaon’s 4th position in the Safety Evaluation Matrix (SEM) and Performance Evaluation Matrix (PEM) rankings across NTPC, attributing the success to the dedicated team of experienced professionals and dynamic young executives driving the plant’s operations.

Reaffirming the station’s dedication to societal and environmental responsibilities, Maitra urged employees to uphold NTPC Bongaigaon as a beacon of professional integrity and value-driven practices. He also elaborated on initiatives in operation and maintenance, environmental stewardship, and ash utilization, expressing gratitude to the unions, welfare bodies, and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club for their unwavering support.

On the occasion, NTPC Safety Department presented the Greentech Safety Award to Maitra won by NTPC Bongaigaon for Excellence in Safety.

In a demonstration of its corporate social responsibility, the plant’s CSR wing, in collaboration with Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, distributed over 100 mosquito nets to housekeeping staff and drivers, an initiative aimed at combating malaria in the region.
