NTPC Bongaigaon celebrates 50th Raising Day with grand festivities and community engagement

Bongaigaon, November 7, 2024 (TBB Bureau):  In a grand celebration of its 50th Raising Day, NTPC Bongaigaon hosted a vibrant event, marking half a century of excellence and community-driven growth. The celebration, held at the NTPC administrative building, saw enthusiastic participation from employees, families, and local community members, underscoring NTPC’s commitment to its people and region.

The day’s program began with the hoisting of the NTPC flag by Chief General Manager Akhilesh Singh, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting and a release of colorful balloons, symbolizing NTPC Bongaigaon’s momentous milestone. Senior officials graced the event, including Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation), GM Thangzom, Commandant of CISF, Sangeeta Singha, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, MS Kandari, Assistant Commandant of CISF, alongside representatives from various departments, unions, and associations.

Reflecting on NTPC’s journey, Akhilesh Singh spoke on the organization’s growth from its inception in Singrauli to becoming India’s largest integrated power producer, with an impressive installed capacity surpassing 76 GW across standalone units and joint ventures. He highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s role in meeting the energy demands of Northeast India, lauding the station’s record-high declared capacity (DC) of 98.90%, which stands as the best among all NTPC stations. Acknowledging stakeholder support, Singh emphasized NTPC’s dedication to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community development initiatives.

In recognition of exceptional service, NTPC Bongaigaon honored six exemplary employees with the prestigious Power Excel Awards, celebrating their dedication and contributions. As part of the festivities, a unique “Power Walk” through the plant premises brought employees and their families together, each holding a lit bulb—a symbolic gesture of unity and the station’s vibrant community spirit.

The occasion also saw the unveiling of several installations representing NTPC’s sustainability and community values: the “Waste to Wealth” Replica, the “I LOVE NTPC Bongaigaon” selfie point, and a Journey Wall that chronicles the station’s milestones over the years. A cultural program added further charm to the event, with students from Notre Dame Academy delivering an inspiring rendition of the NTPC Geet, followed by an electrifying band performance by the A P Battalion, which added musical grandeur to the day.

In addition, NTPC employees proudly received the new logo badge of NTPC, recently inaugurated by Chairman and Managing Director Shri Gurdeep Singh, marking a fresh chapter in the company’s journey.

Founded on November 7, 1975, NTPC has been a pillar of strength for India’s power sector, continuously evolving to meet the nation’s growing energy demands. With ambitious plans to install 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032, NTPC is moving towards a sustainable future, dedicated to eco-friendly energy solutions.
