Bongaigaon, August 15, 2024 (TBB Bureau): NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated the 78th Independence Day with great enthusiasm, embodying the spirit of “Har Ghar Tiranga” at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium of the 750 MW power station here on Thursday. The event began with Debabrata Kar, General Manager (O&M), NTPC Bongaigaon, hoisting the National Flag, followed by a parade inspection by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and DGR Security Services.
In his address, Kar highlighted the station’s achievements, underscoring its commitment to excellence in Operations and Maintenance. He stated, “India is a nation with ‘Unity in Diversity,’ and NTPC Bongaigaon proudly represents this rich cultural diversity of the North East region.” Kar praised the station’s performance and its positive impact on the power map of the state and nation.
Kar expressed gratitude to the employees, departments, and partners of NTPC Bongaigaon for their dedication and urged them to continue working cohesively to bring further accolades to the station and region. He encouraged the adoption of new initiatives to enhance overall performance.
Kar announced that NTPC Bongaigaon achieved its highest-ever generation for FY 2023-24, producing 5058.1 Million Units at a Plant Load Factor (PLF) of 76.78%. The station also recorded its highest annual coal receipt of 33.81 LMT (883 rakes) in FY 2023-24. He highlighted the station’s various CSR, safety, and best practices initiatives.
The event included a display of skills and defense expertise by the CISF Fire wing and colorful cultural performances by students from Ankur Tiny Tots and Notre Dame Academy. Kar released tri-color balloons with senior officials, symbolizing freedom and hope, and presented the prestigious Suraksha Mitra awards to 12 workers for their exemplary safety practices. Trophies were also awarded to CISF Jawans and school authorities in recognition of their contributions.
The celebration was attended by Sangeeta Singh, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, Asutosh Biswas, General Manager (Operations), GM Thangzom, Commandant of CISF, Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), Ashish Kumar, Deputy Commandant of CISF, MS Kandari, Assistant Commandant of CISF, along with HODs, union and association members, welfare bodies, and other senior officials. Earlier, Asutosh Biswas hoisted the tricolor flag at the service building of the plant with employees.
The event saw participation from departmental heads, colleagues, employees, CISF, DGR Security Services, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, and welfare bodies, along with their families.
