Bongaigaon, June 5, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Marking World Environment Day with unparalleled fervor, NTPC Bongaigaon orchestrated a symphony of initiatives aimed at igniting a profound sense of environmental stewardship and sustainability.
The day’s festivities commenced with the solemn administration of the Environment Day Pledge to all NTPC Bongaigaon personnel, led by Akhilesh Singh, Head of Project and Business Unit. Gracing the ceremony were esteemed luminaries such as Induri S Reddy (GM, O&M), Asutosh Biswas (GM, Operation), and Sangeeta Singh, President of the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC Bongaigaon.
Following the pledge, an invigorating walkathon ensued, with a jubilant parade of senior officials, employees, and their families weaving through the verdant landscapes of the township.
A cornerstone of the day’s events was the magnificent tree plantation drive that unfolded within the hallowed grounds of the NTPC Bongaigaon township. A veritable coalition of hearts and hands, comprising employees, their families, members of the illustrious ladies club, associates, as well as the vibrant youth from Notre Dame School and Ankur Tiny Tots School, converged to plant over 100 saplings at strategic locations within the plant and its surrounding precincts. From majestic fruit-bearing specimens to invaluable medicinal treasures, the array of saplings symbolized a vibrant tapestry of biodiversity, meticulously woven to enhance environmental resilience and vitality.
In a stirring address, Akhilesh Singh underscored the relentless endeavours of the Environment Monitoring Group (EMG) and NTPC Bongaigaon in championing the cause of environmental safeguarding and afforestation. He reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to nurturing a thriving green expanse within the township, plant premises, and its environs. Singh passionately emphasized the imperative of sustained and collective action in the pursuit of environmental conservation.
