Reaffirming its commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability, NTPC Bongaigaon marked World Earth Day with a meaningful plantation drive, organized by its Environment Management Group (EMG) Department. The initiative served as a tribute to the planet’s natural heritage and a step forward in fostering ecological harmony.
The event commenced with a ceremonial planting of saplings by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, accompanied by Debabrata Kar, General Manager (O&M), and other senior officials representing various departments. Over 50 saplings — comprising fruit-bearing and indigenous species — were planted across the township and plant premises, symbolizing NTPC’s dedication to nurturing green spaces.
In his address to employees and participants, Maitra underscored the importance of collective responsibility in the fight against climate change and the preservation of biodiversity. He praised the EMG Department for spearheading the initiative and called on all employees to embrace sustainable practices in their daily lives.
“Small actions can lead to significant change. Planting a tree today is an investment in a greener, healthier tomorrow,” Maitra said, inspiring the audience to remain proactive custodians of the environment.
