NTPC Bongaigaon embraces Assamese culture with Bohagi Utsav celebration

BONGAIGAON, MAY 14, 2024 (TBB BUREAU): NTPC Bongaigaon, in collaboration with the Employee Welfare Association, rejoiced in the festivities of Bohagi Utsav on Sunday, marking the culmination of the Assamese New Year celebrations that commenced on April 12, 2024. The colourful and lively event, a testament to the power station’s commitment to employee welfare, saw enthusiastic participation from employees, their families, and esteemed guests.

KC Muraleedharan, Business Unit Head of NTPC Bongaigaon, inaugurated the Bohagi Utsav with great fervor, underscoring the significance of the Bihu festival and the advent of the Bohag season in the Assamese New Year, symbolizing new beginnings and prosperity. He emphasized the cultural diversity within NTPC Bongaigaon, describing it as a melting pot of cultures, and highlighted the spirit of inclusivity and unity as the township celebrates various festivals together.

Local talents showcased the vibrant culture of Assam through Bihu Dance and Husori celebrations, captivating the audience with traditional songs and dances that depicted the essence of Assam’s diverse tribes. The rhythmic beats of the Dhol and Pepa, accompanied by melodious tunes, infused the atmosphere with joy and festivity, creating lasting memories for all attendees. Additionally, the festivities also included the celebration of the Bwisagu Festival, signifying the new year of the Bodo community and promoting communal harmony and cultural exchange.

The presence of dignitaries such as Induri S Reddy, GM (O&M); Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation); Bindu Namboothiri, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC Bongaigaon; GM Thangzom, Commandant, CISF; MS Kandari, Asst. Commandant, CISF; along with Heads of Departments and family members of the station added to the camaraderie and festive spirit of the occasion.

The Bohagi Utsav provided a platform for employees and their families to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Assam, fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit.
