NTPC Bongaigaon empowers rural women entrepreneurs with training kits

Reinforcing its commitment to women’s empowerment and sustainable livelihoods, NTPC Bongaigaon’s Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club distributed training kits to aspiring women entrepreneurs in rural Kokrajhar. This initiative, executed in partnership with Tusti Foundation, focuses on skill development in Areca Nut Leaf Craft and Jute Handicrafts, fostering economic independence and self-reliance.

The event witnessed the presence of Rupali Sinha, President, Vasudha Mahila Mandal, ER-II, who distributed the kits, including essential workwear, to the participants. She was joined by Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC Bongaigaon, along with Vice President Soumya Kar, Senior Member Jhumita Biswas, Head of HR Onkar Nath, and the CSR team.

Under this initiative, 30 rural women will undergo structured training aligned with NCVET guidelines, covering product development, financial literacy, and market linkages. By utilizing locally available, eco-friendly materials, the program aims to transform traditional skills into profitable business ventures.

Encouraging the participants, Kasturi Maitra emphasized the importance of dedication, stating that such programs play a pivotal role in fostering self-sufficiency and community development. Onkar Nath reaffirmed NTPC’s commitment to mentoring the trainees and providing continuous business support, ensuring long-term success.

Through this CSR initiative, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to empower rural women, equipping them with the skills, resources, and confidence to drive economic growth and build sustainable livelihoods.
