Bongaigaon, September 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a step towards environmental conservation and sustainability, NTPC Bongaigaon organized the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” tree plantation drive on Tuesday within its sprawling plant premises. The drive underscores the company’s strong commitment to green initiatives and eco-friendly development.
The “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign not only enhances NTPC’s green cover but also symbolizes the company’s commitment to sustainability, reinforcing its leadership role in corporate environmental responsibility.
The event was inaugurated by Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), along with the participation of Asutosh Biswas, GM (Operation), Heads of Departments, and a large number of employees. The campaign, orchestrated by the Environment Management Group (EMG) Department, saw the plantation of numerous saplings, with a focus on native species, enhancing the biodiversity of the area.
The campaign, symbolizing the nurturing spirit of motherhood, resonated with the essence of the initiative’s theme — dedicating trees to the name of “Maa” (mother). It emphasized NTPC Bongaigaon’s dedication to preserving nature and fostering a culture of sustainability. The green expanse of the plant premises provided the perfect backdrop for the initiative, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to creating an eco-friendly work environment.
In his address, Kar highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s ongoing environmental efforts and called on employees to become “ambassadors of change” by actively preserving the green cover. He encouraged everyone to take the message of sustainability beyond the workplace, inspiring the broader community to contribute to a greener future.
This initiative is part of NTPC’s broader sustainability vision, closely aligned with the national mission of “Swachhta Hi Sewa.” With the presence of Sheeja Ambika Sasidharan, Additional General Manager (Environment Management), and other senior officials, the drive underlined the company’s continuous efforts to achieve ecological balance for the betterment of future generations.
