In a thrilling display of skill and sportsmanship, NTPC Bongaigaon clinched the championship title in football at the Intra Regional Sports Meet (IRSM) 2024-25, defeating NTPC Talcher Kaniha 2-1 in a closely contested final held on home turf. The five-day sporting extravaganza brought together football teams from NTPC Darlipali, NTPC Talcher Thermal, and NTPC Talcher Kaniha, with NTPC Bongaigaon dominating the league stages before sealing a hard-fought victory in the final.
The closing ceremony, held in the presence of Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (ER-II), NTPC, was a grand celebration of athletic excellence and organizational camaraderie. Commending the players for their outstanding efforts, Sinha lauded the spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork exhibited throughout the tournament. He also appreciated the event’s smooth conduct, stating that it reflected NTPC’s commitment to international standards and employee well-being.
Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, congratulated all participating teams for showcasing exemplary discipline and determination, underscoring the role of sports in fostering unity and holistic development within the NTPC family.
In the individual awards category, Jafungsar Daimary of NTPC Bongaigaon was named Best Defender, while Narkkhw Narzary, also from Bongaigaon, was crowned Man of the Tournament. Anil Kanta Pradhan of NTPC Talcher Kaniha won the Best Goalkeeper award, and Niraj Kumar Sangode took home the Highest Goal Scorer title. NTPC Talcher Thermal was recognized with the Fair Play Award, and NTPC Darlipali earned the Spirit of the Game Award for their spirited performance.
The IRSM 2024-25 was more than a sports meet — it was a celebration of NTPC’s core values of dedication, collaboration, and wellness.
