NTPC Bongaigaon has reinforced its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and PWD, Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division for the construction of a modern kitchen and a multi-purpose hall at Kokrajhar District Jail. This initiative aims to enhance the jail’s infrastructure, improve living conditions for inmates, and support their rehabilitation into society.
Under this project, NTPC Bongaigaon has pledged Rs 32.82 lakh for the development of these essential facilities. The modern kitchen will ensure hygienic food preparation and meal distribution, while the multi-purpose hall will serve as a center for vocational training, skill development, and rehabilitation programs. Scheduled for completion within 16 months, the project will be executed and monitored by the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and PWD, Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division.
The MoA was formally exchanged between Masanda M Pertin, District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, and Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon. The agreement was signed on behalf of NTPC by Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), while Ajit Kumar Narzary, Executive Engineer, PWD-Kokrajhar & Chirang District Territorial Division, and Kabita Deka, ACS, Additional District Commissioner, Kokrajhar, signed on behalf of the district administration. The signing ceremony was attended by senior officials from NTPC and the district administration, underscoring the significance of this initiative.
In a separate development, NTPC Bongaigaon was recognized by the District Administration for its proactive role in the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. As part of a TB Adoption Ceremony organized under the 100-day Intensified Campaign on TB Elimination, NTPC received an appreciation letter for its consistent efforts in supporting over 200 TB patients in Kokrajhar over the past two years.
Speaking at the event, District Commissioner Masanda M Pertin emphasized the need for correctional facilities to act as centers of rehabilitation and transformation. She highlighted that the modern kitchen would enhance hygiene and nutrition for inmates, while the multi-purpose hall would provide skill-building opportunities, fostering their reintegration into society. She also commended NTPC Bongaigaon for its sustained commitment to impactful CSR initiatives and expressed confidence in the successful execution of the project.
Arnab Maitra, Business Unit Head, NTPC Bongaigaon, reaffirmed NTPC’s dedication to social welfare and community development. He emphasized that the jail infrastructure project and TB awareness initiatives reflect NTPC’s long-term vision of fostering meaningful change. Maitra reiterated that NTPC remains committed to inclusive and sustainable growth, ensuring that its CSR initiatives address pressing social challenges.
Furthering its healthcare initiatives, NTPC Bongaigaon has been providing nutritional and medical assistance to TB patients and has announced plans to intensify efforts toward achieving a TB-free Kokrajhar. In collaboration with representatives from IOCL, 135 Territorial Army, and Bismuri, NTPC has distributed nutritional support and protein kits to TB patients, reinforcing its dedication to public health and community well-being.
Through its extensive engagement in healthcare, education, infrastructure development, and skill-building programs, NTPC Bongaigaon continues to drive positive social transformation, uplifting communities and strengthening critical infrastructure for a better tomorrow.
