BONGAIGAON, FEBRUARY 10, 2025
Reinforcing its commitment to education and youth empowerment, NTPC Bongaigaon has expanded its support for the Government of Assam’s Arohan Scheme by introducing a structured mentorship program. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with the District Administration, Kokrajhar, and Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, aims to guide meritorious students toward academic and professional excellence.
As part of the program, NTPC Bongaigaon recently distributed educational kits to the top-performing Class IX students from 96 government schools across the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Addressing the students, Shri Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (ER-II), underscored the importance of perseverance, hard work, and knowledge in shaping a successful future. He encouraged students to dream big and make the most of the opportunities available to them. Shri Sinha also reiterated NTPC’s dedication to fostering educational growth and skill development, especially in remote regions like BTR and North East India.
The event was graced by the presence of Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, and Kasturi Maitra, President of Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, who extended their best wishes to the students. The distribution ceremony was attended by senior officials including Debabrata Kar, GM (O&M), A. Biswas, GM (Operation), Dr. Deepayan Paul, CMO, NTPC Bongaigaon, Onkar Nath, AGM (HR), Paresh Mathur, AGM (TS), and Dhrubajyoti Das, ACS, Assistant Commissioner, Kokrajhar. Representatives from the Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, NTPC’s HR and CSR wings, and the Education Department were also present.
Rupali Sinha, President of Vasudha Mahila Mandal, ER-II, highlighted the transformative power of education, particularly for young girls. She encouraged students to pursue their aspirations with confidence and determination, emphasizing that initiatives like the Arohan Scheme, backed by NTPC, aim to bridge educational gaps and provide students with vital mentorship and exposure.
During the event, students also visited NTPC Bongaigaon’s Waste to Wealth Replica and a Selfie Point, where Shri Bonthu Balaji, DGM (BMD), provided insights into coal-to-power generation, enhancing their understanding of the energy sector.
Looking ahead, NTPC Bongaigaon will allocate mentors from its engineering, management, and medical teams to provide career guidance and professional exposure to students. The Arohan Scheme, initiated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam, serves as a flagship mentor-mentee program designed to identify and support academically bright students from government schools. By aligning with this vision, NTPC Bongaigaon’s mentorship initiative will offer structured guidance, career counselling, and skill-building sessions, ensuring that students receive the necessary support to achieve their ambitions.
