Bhubaneswar, November 7, 2024 (TBB Bureau): NTPC Ltd., India’s largest integrated power major, marked its 50th Raising Day with celebrations at its Regional Headquarters in Bhubaneswar as well as across its corporate offices and stations nationwide. The event, which took place on November 7, was attended by key executives and employees, highlighting the company’s journey and its achievements in the power sector.
The ceremony at NTPC Eastern Region-II (ER-II) Headquarters in Bhubaneswar began with a flag-hoisting led by Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director, who took the opportunity to reflect on the company’s growth from its humble beginnings in 1975. He detailed NTPC’s rise to a formidable force in India’s energy landscape, with an installed capacity of over 76,475 MW across 93 stations nationwide.
In his address, Sinha commended the dedication of NTPC’s employees, whose hard work has earned numerous accolades for the company and contributed to its success. He also expressed deep gratitude to the former employees whose contributions continue to shape NTPC’s legacy. Encouraging the workforce to continue innovating, he stressed the importance of rising to future challenges to help NTPC maintain its leadership in the energy sector.
Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC, addressed employees through video conference from the company’s Corporate Centre in New Delhi. In his speech, he underscored the importance of operational efficiency and sustainability in all power generation activities. He also highlighted NTPC’s future plans, which include integrating new technologies and data analytics to further optimize performance and drive growth.
NTPC, which currently operates a diverse mix of power generation sources, including coal, gas, hydro, and renewable energy, has set ambitious goals for the future. By 2032, the company aims to have nearly 50 per cent of its generation capacity come from non-fossil fuel sources, in line with India’s commitment to a greener energy future.
As part of the celebrations, NTPC’s leadership reiterated the company’s commitment to powering the nation and contributing to a sustainable energy ecosystem. The event was a testament to the company’s resilience and its significant role in shaping India’s energy sector over the last five decades.
