Ranchi, June 05, 2024 (TBB Bureau): In a robust celebration of World Environment Day on Wednesday, NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters/NML in Ranchi marked the occasion with a mass planting of fruit-bearing saplings at the new campus of the Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology (CIPET), Ranchi.
The mass tree plantation was conducted in association with the Swayamsiddha Ladies Club. Rekha Jain, President of the Swayamsiddha Ladies Club, initiated the fruit-bearing sapling plantation, followed by Vice President Shika Rastogi, Senior Member Sunita Pandey, General Secretary Mansa Verma, Joint Secretary Deepa Kumari, Treasurer Snigdha Rani Manjhi, and Sapna Pareek. Other dignitaries were also present to support the initiative.
As part of NTPC’s commitment to environmental protection and conservation, the event saw enthusiastic participation from students who are Project Affected Persons (PAPs) from NTPC Coal Mining projects, including Pakri Barwadih, Chattibariatu, Kerendari, Badam, Banardih, Dulanga, and Talaipalli. These students are currently undergoing skill development training in plastic processing courses at CIPET, sponsored by NTPC under its corporate social responsibility program.
The initiative was a significant step towards promoting sustainable development and environmental conservation. The large turnout of students and PAPs underscored the community’s dedication to fostering a greener environment and highlighted NTPC’s role in encouraging environmental stewardship through its CSR activities.
The mass plantation drive at CIPET’s new campus not only contributed to the greening of the area but also instilled a sense of environmental responsibility among the participants. The event was widely appreciated by the local community and served as a testament to NTPC’s ongoing efforts to promote ecological balance and sustainable living.
