NTPC Coal Mining HQ hosts workshop on Kitchen Waste Management

Ranchi, May 18, 2024 (TBB Bureau): As part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada initiative, NTPC Coal Mining HQ/NML Ranchi organised a Workshop on Kitchen Waste Management for members of the Swayamsiddha Ladies Club (SSLC) in collaboration with “Urban Kheti,” an organisation dedicated to waste management and organic farming.

The workshop aimed to raise awareness about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling urban waste. Despite the growing concern for environmental conservation, recycling remains underutilized in many urban communities due to a lack of public awareness and infrastructure. Therefore, there is an urgent need to cultivate better waste disposal habits.

With this objective in mind, the workshop focused on the reuse of kitchen waste and demonstrated how it can be effortlessly converted into organic manure through a special process. Participants were guided through the procedures to convert daily kitchen waste into nutrient-rich manure, beneficial for household plant and tree growth.

The program was attended by Rekha Jain, President of SSLC, along with members of the Ladies Club. Also present were Prakash Kumar, Vinod Kumar, Managing Partners, and Sabina Parveen, Project Coordinator from Urban Kheti.
