For the first time the NTPC Coal Mining Headquarters, Ranchi has taken the initiative for co-branding the 22nd Jharkhand Chess Festival, organised by the Hazaribagh District Chess Association (HDCA) at Naman Vidya Complex in Hazaribagh
Around 400 players from all over the State of Jharkhand are participating in this eight-day tournament, which got underway on March 21.
NTPC Mining Jharkhand Chess Festival was inaugurated by Vidya Bhushan, Sadar SDM, Hazaribagh. This is for the first time that the Hazaribagh District Chess Federation is organizing such a big state-level chess competition for the students.
The Chess Tournament is held for Under-7, 9, 11, 13 Open & Girls Chess Championship-2023 and Jharkhand State Sub Junior FIDE (The International Chess Federation, which governs international chess competition and rankings ) Rating Chess Championship 2023 at Hazaribagh from March 21 -28,202.
NTPC Coal Mining is constantly striving to undertake various CSR activities in Jharkhand including sports which includes Throwball, Basketball, and Athletics under its CSR initiative. NTPC is supporting the organisers of the tournament under its CSR initiative to promote chess in Jharkhand which will help in identifying the budding talent as the winners will be selected for National Championship and players will get a chance to play at national level from Jharkhand and represent the state.
NTPC Regional Executive Director (Coal Mining) Partha Mazumder conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the players and urged them to showcase their best talent in the tournament. He lauded HDCA for the successful organization of the event.
On the occasion, HDCA and AICA expressed their heartfelt gratitude to NTPC for the cooperation. Organisers also expressed gratitude towards Naman Vidya for providing international level campus and other facilities.
The championship would conclud on March 28 and winners will be felicitated by the dignitaries.
