The timeless beauty of India’s folk heritage took center stage at the NTPC Northern Region Headquarters (NRHQ) in Lucknow during an enriching eight-day Madhubani Painting Workshop, organized by the Utara Ladies Club. Designed to celebrate and promote traditional Indian art, the initiative saw enthusiastic participation from lady employees, club members, and children alike.

Spearheaded by Vijaya Rao, President of the Utara Ladies Club, the workshop was led by renowned Madhubani artist Veena Devi, who brought with her the authentic touch of her native Madhubani, Bihar. Under her expert guidance, participants delved deep into the intricate patterns and symbolic expressions that define this centuries-old art form.
The workshop culminated in a vibrant exhibition featuring the participants’ creations—striking depictions of peacocks, deities, and traditional geometric motifs rendered in the classic Madhubani style. The closing event was graced by NS Rao, RED (North), and Samiran Sinha Ray, Head of HR (NR), who commended the creativity and dedication on display.
“This workshop not only revived a timeless tradition but also ignited a creative spark across generations,” said Rao during the valedictory ceremony.
Senior club members, including Neelkamal and Sangita Singha Ray, were also in attendance, offering their support and encouragement to the budding artists.
The initiative stood as a heartfelt tribute to India’s rich artistic legacy, and a vibrant celebration of creativity, culture, and community spirit at NRHQ.
