The valedictory ceremony of the 54th National Safety Week was successfully held at Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) this week, at its plant site in Paradeep. The weeklong celebration featured various safety awareness activities involving employees and contractual workers, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to industrial safety and well-being.
Dr. Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director, Factories & Boilers (Safety), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the presence of Manoj Kumar Panda, Deputy Director, Factories & Boilers (Cuttack Division), Palanisamy Velusamy, Unit Head & Chief Manufacturing Officer (PPL), and Sumit Senapati, Chief General Manager (HR & IR).
This year’s theme, “Safety & Well-Being is Crucial for Viksit Bharat,” underscored the significance of a safe and healthy work environment as a fundamental pillar of national progress. Employees actively participated in a signature campaign, safety oath, safety survey, exhibitions, safety skit play, and documentary screenings on safety measures. A dedicated safety exhibition showcased various safety equipment and best practices to enhance awareness.
In his keynote address, Dr. Pradhan emphasized the importance of industrial safety and urged the PPL management to sustain initiatives ensuring an accident-free workplace. Palanisamy Velusamy highlighted that a robust safety culture directly contributes to higher productivity and organizational growth. He encouraged employees to adopt safety as a continuous practice rather than a one-time observance.
The event was attended by senior executives, union leaders, and employees who demonstrated their commitment to safety. The celebration concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, recognizing winners of various competitions promoting best safety practices.
