Paradip Marathon-2025 to commemorate Paradip Port Foundation Day on Jan 3

Paradip, December 19, 2024 (TBB Bureau): The Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has announced the much-awaited Paradip Marathon-2025, scheduled for January 3, 2025, as part of its Foundation Day celebrations. The marathon, which will commence from the Hanuman Temple near Gate No. 5, will be flagged off by PPA Chairman P.L. Haranadh. Covering a distance of 14 kilometres, the race will culminate at Gopabandhu Stadium, promising an exciting and challenging event for participants.

Participation is open to individuals aged between 18 and 40 years as of December 31, 2024. All participants are required to submit a medical fitness certificate issued by a government medical officer or a medical officer from the Paradip Port Hospital. To ensure additional safety, a panel of doctors from the Port Trust will be available to assess participants’ fitness if necessary. Registrations will take place at Gopabandhu Stadium on January 1 and 2, 2025. Applicants must provide a completed application form, a medical fitness certificate, an undertaking, photocopies of their Voter ID or Aadhaar Card, proof of age, and the entry fee, which is ₹50 for male participants and ₹30 for female participants, to be paid in cash. Outstation participants will be offered accommodation on January 2 to ensure they are well-prepared for the event.

Exciting prizes await the top performers. The first-place winners in both the Men’s and Women’s categories will receive a cash prize of ₹21,000 each, while the second and third-place winners will be awarded ₹15,000 and ₹10,500, respectively. Cash prizes will also be given to participants securing the fourth to sixth positions. Furthermore, the first 150 male finishers and the first 50 female finishers completing the 14-kilometer distance will receive medals, while all participants who finish within two hours will be awarded certificates of participation.

The Paradip Marathon is not just a race but a celebration of resilience, determination, and community spirit. It has become a cherished annual tradition, showcasing the Paradip Port Authority’s commitment to promoting sports and fitness.
