Paradip Port achieves historic milestone with record-breaking vessel docking

Paradip, August 26, 2024 (TBB Bureau): Paradip Port Authority (PPA) has once again demonstrated its remarkable capabilities by successfully docking the MV THALASSINI AVARA (CAPE), a vessel chartered by Tata Steel Ltd., on Monday morning. This monumental event marks a significant achievement for the port, as the vessel carried a staggering 1,50,253 metric tonnes of steam coal — the highest import parcel ever berthed at the KICT Berth of Paradip Port.

The docking of MV THALASSINI AVARA highlights Paradip Port’s growing stature as a leading maritime hub, capable of handling large-scale import operations with exceptional efficiency. The successful berthing of this massive vessel is a testament to the port’s world-class infrastructure, advanced technology, and the seamless coordination between the PPA and Tata Steel Ltd.

Speaking on this achievement, PPA Chairman PL Haranadh said, “The arrival of MV THALASSINI AVARA is a significant milestone for us. It underscores our ability to handle the world’s largest vessels and reaffirms our commitment to supporting India’s growing industrial demands. We are proud to partner with Tata Steel Ltd. in this endeavor and look forward to continuing our role in facilitating their import operations.”

This accomplishment not only boosts Paradip Port’s reputation but also reinforces its strategic importance in India’s maritime landscape. The port’s ability to handle such a large import parcel is expected to enhance its competitive edge and attract more global shipping lines in the future.

As Paradip Port continues to break records and set new benchmarks, it is poised to play an increasingly vital role in supporting India’s trade and economic growth. The port’s continued expansion and modernization efforts are expected to further elevate its status as a key gateway for global trade.
